Japan 0:0 Greece Group C / Have a Fun Flag Wig !

Sometimes, it has to be said that expectations are not thwarted. Such was the case with Greece and Japan. Greece had been pilloried for lacking anything that resembled creativity and being too eager to just sit back and defend. Japan, though perhaps more skilled in possession, had been criticized for wasting scoring opportunities. Guess what happened?
Japan had a number of set pieces, but not one seemed to raise an eyebrow of concern from a Greece defender. Anytime Greece had the ball, frequently on a counter attack, its attacking would stall in the offensive third, the team deprived of a go-to scorer like Italy's Balotelli, or seemingly disinterested in working together to build a chance, like, say, Colombia.
That said, Greece could sleep soundly tonight. The Greeks earned their country a point. They are still technically in it. They were down a man for much of the game in what looked like brutal conditions, Japan held possession for a whopping 75 percent of the time, and yet despite all of that, they still managed to keep the Blue Samurai from scoring. There is a beauty in that kind of resolve.
